Regular TTXGP competitors Team Zongshen from China chose British companies to assist in developing an AC powered race bike to compete with the mighty Muench. The bike is purely a 'test mule' to allow the team to gain valuable experience for the development of an all new race bike for the 2013 season, and a homologated eSuperStock race bike for the 2014 season that will be available to other teams.
The team used the front half of a Ducati 848 chassis welded to a bespoke rear section. The team chose the British designed and built Yasa 750 axial flux motor connected to the British built Sevcon Gen4 Size 8 inverter running at 380V. eBaracus supplied the cells, battery management system, electrical system design and commissioning.
Initial testing has been positive with the bike coming 3rd in the sprint event of the TTX/FIM ePower joint round in Germany. The bike is set further development over the winter period to extend the battery capacity.
